Shiona Turini is one of my favorite people in the fashion industry to follow. Not to mention she is good friends with Solange Knowles who I absolutely adore! Shiona has many titles including fashion consultant, stylist, editor, writer and brand ambassador. Shiona is one hard working woman that has her hands in all things fashion. Over the years she has worked for some of the most prestigious publications. Shiona has worked with brands such as Christian Dior, Salvatore Ferragamo, NIKE, and Louis Vuitton, to list a few. She has done lots of work with Solange including the visuals for her latest album “A Seat At The Table.” Let’s not forget Beyonce’s epic “Formation” video, Yup that was Shinoa too. Here is a little background on Ms. Shiona Turini:
Shiona Turini was born and raised in Bermuda. She started her fashion career in New York City at Yves Saint Laurent. She basically forced them to give her a job by showing up multiple times until they took her on as an intern…..talk about persistent. She worked in the press department for three years until a Public Relations assistant position opened up and they hired her.
After working with Yves Saint Laurent for three years, Shinoa received interested from W magazine. With that offer, she switched to the editorial side of the industry. She worked as an accessories editor for W magazine for about three years, then moved to Teen Vogue as a accessories director. From Teen Vogue, Shinoa worked with CR Fashion Book for the first few three issues. Shinoa was the marketing and beauty director and also creating original content for the website. After CR Fashion Book she worked as a fashion marketing director for Cosmopolitan Magazine. Soon after Shinoa decided that she had gained enough experience in the industry to work for herself, and that’s what she did.
When Shinoa first started in freelance she wanted to create content for different publications and brands. She gets to use many aspects of her background on different projects with clients. Shinoa is not represented by any agency so all of her projects and collaborations come from past relationships, goes to show you how important NETWORKING and RELATIONSHIPS are in the industry. Shinoa Turini has definitely affirmed her expertise on everything fashion.

Olori Swank is a Celebrity stylist, entrepreneur & author. Before becoming a wardrobe stylist, Olori’s plan was to attend medical school after graduating from the University of Georgia. She decided to take a year off before beginning med school and during that year she was granted an opportunity that would change her career entirely.
Olori was given a chance to style an up and coming artist after meeting with Mickey “MeMpHiTz” Wright, Jr. the VP of A&R at Jive Records. Mickey loved her style and wanted to emulate her exact look on a client. Olori took her first styling job with no prior experience. She had to figure out the business side of styling as she went along.
“I wasn’t privileged enough to intern or assist anyone. It was like taking an independent study course in the fashion styling business, and my instructor was life.” – Olori Swank
Olori’s resume is fully packed with big names such as Keyshia Cole, T.I, Childish Gambino (Donald Glover), Antoine Bethea, Daniel Gibson, Lance Gross, Angela Simmons, Dawn Richard and Rae Sremmurd to name a few. Recently Olori has published a fashion/lifestyle advice manifesto called, “101: The Blueprint for a Swank Life.”

Up next on my stylist spotlight post is Bryon Javar……
Bryon Javar, was born and raised in Compton, California. Javar adoration for fashion commenced at a young age, taking notes from Tina Turner played by Angela Basset in the classic movies, “What’s Love Got to Do with it.” Bryon has known since the 9th grade that he wanted to become a stylist.
Javar’s success didn’t come easy. He worked for multiple retailers and even got fired from a few, but Javar never took that as a loss but as a blessing from God. I love this quote from him that I stumbled across on MarshbarsCloset.com, on his experience of being terminated from his retail job:
“In the midst of me going off something came over me and it was God saying ‘You weren’t leaving when I told you to so I had to remove you from the situation because you would not have left by yourself.’ I was so happy. I was so grateful that I was fired because I knew this was the beginning of the rest of my career and the rest of my life.”
Bryon Javar now styles celebrities for red carpet events, editorial spreads, and TV appearances. With a long list of clients already under his belt, he is just getting started making his mark on the fashion industry. Bryon Javar’s clientele consists of names such as Karruche Tran, Christian Millian, Jazmine Sullivan, Letoya Luckett, Angela Simmons, and Mel B.
Bryon Javar also has “Not My President,” Merch that you can purchase Here >>> TheRulesAreSimple.com

Ade Samuel is one of my favorite stylists. Not only is she from the Bronx, NY but she also attended my Alma mater Buffalo State College! Ade Samuel started off interning for publications such as W Magazine and Teen Vogue. She eventually received a promotion and became a fashion assistant. Through her internship experience she was able to network with top-tier stylists.
After her move from New York City to Los Angeles she was able to land styling projects with stars such as Beyonce, Nicole Richie, Rihanna, and Miley Cyrus. She now continues to style for top names in the entertainment industry like Big Sean, Yara Shahidi, Jhene Aiko, and Kelly Rowland. Ade Samuel is not just a stylist but a dope shoe designer as well. She launched her self-named shoe line last year and it’s goal is to create luxury footwear for women, designed by a woman.
